Academic All-Star – Jacob Horn, Trinity Elementary

The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, free food from Sonic Drive-In and other gifts from the district.

Trinity Elementary School is proud to announce that fifth grader Jacob Horn is this year’s Academic All-Star.

“Jacob is an outstanding student who produces exemplary work,” said his teachers. “He is focused, determined and always aiming to achieve a new personal best. His organization and prioritization skills have helped him go above and beyond in the classroom.”

Beyond classroom excellence, teachers say Jacob is a phenomenal young person who is a friend to all.

“Jacob is honest, respectful, loyal and always willing to lend a helping hand,” said his teachers. “His character traits have been of great benefit to others around him, and we know that they will continue to shape him into a wonderful young man. It is an honor to have such a model student in our classroom.”

Jacob has attended Trinity since kindergarten and says the teachers have played a huge role in his development as a student.

“They push me to become a better student,” said Jacob. “In third grade, I wasn’t that good at reading. My teachers pushed me to read harder books, and then I started getting into longer books like Harry Potter.”

Although he now enjoys reading and is active in the school’s reading club, Jacob says his favorite subject is math. He will have to be good with numbers if he sticks with his current choice for a career.

“I kind of want to be an engineer when I grow up,” said Jacob. “I think it would be really interesting to get into mechanics. It just seems like a really cool career.”

As he prepares for middle school, Jacob says he will continue working hard as he strives to do his best.

“School is important to me because it will help decide my future,” said Jacob, who admits he’s thrilled to take home the honor of being Trinity’s Academic All-Star. “I feel very special.”
