Academic All-Star – Dash Husband, Lipscomb Elementary

Published April 11, 2018

The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, free food from Sonic Drive-In and other gifts from the district.

Lipscomb Elementary School third grader Dash Husband is a true Academic All-Star.

Although school can be tough at times, administrators say Dash is the kind of student who never gives up.

“Dash always puts forth his best effort both at school and at home,” said Lipscomb Elementary Principal Michelle Contich. “He has a good attitude and never gives up on the task at hand. He is a hard worker when it comes to school and play.”

Dash says he loves going to school at Lipscomb because he feels safe and the teachers are second to none.

“My teacher, Ms. Smart, is always nice to everyone,” said Dash. “Even when we make mistakes, she makes us feel better. She’s just a really good teacher.”

When it comes to school, Dash’s favorite subject is social studies.

“I have always just really liked history,” said Dash. “We’ve been learning about countries and their cultures. We also learn what’s happened in the past.”

No matter how tough it might get, Dash says he understands the importance of getting a good education.

“If you don’t go to school you won’t learn new things and meet new people,” said Dash. “Even if you mess up, you just keep going. Things will get better. But if you give up, you won’t learn from your mistakes.”

Not only is Dash wise beyond his years, but those who know him say he has a heart of gold.

“Dash has a compassionate heart,” said Contich. “He empathizes when others are sad and wants to help them feel better. He loves sports and knows the importance of including others in games and activities. We are proud of his hard work.”
