Woodland Middle Wins Drive Away Hunger Challenge

Published May 12, 2017

Woodland Middle School has a little extra money in the bank thanks to the hard work of its students during this year’s Drive Away Hunger Challenge.

WMS was one of the top winners of this year’s middle school challenge, which collects food items for the GraceWorks Food Pantry. NASCAR legend Darrell Waltrip paid a visit to the school May 10 to present principal Priscilla Fizer with a trophy and a check for $1,250 check.

Woodland Middle’s efforts combined with the efforts of the other middle schools led to a combined 51,735 pounds of food being collected to help those in need.
