WCS Good News Ambassadors & Media Teachers Strategize for 2016-17 School Year

One of the key reasons WCS is able to continue to provide parents and the community with the most important and up-to-date news and information is the group of Good News Ambassadors and media teachers who help stay current on all the happenings across Williamson County.

Each Williamson County school has a Good News Ambassador. They, along with the high school media teachers, are tasked with providing the WCS Communications Department and the media with news and information from their schools.

On August 17, the WCS Communications Department met with the Good News Ambassadors to outline and discuss the do’s and don’ts of communicating in WCS, as well as offer some photo and video training to ensure all of the action going on during the 2016-17 school year is captured.

Ambassadors new and old came together to share tactics, gather information, ask questions and mingle with others in their positions.

One of WCS’ longest-running ambassadors says it’s a job she still cherishes.

“This has been a fun role for me for many years,” said Scales Elementary Good News Ambassador Sandra Webster. “I love to get out into the classrooms and interact with the students and teachers. I see so many good things that I wonder why I did not become a teacher.”

Walnut Grove Good News Ambassador Janice Wurzel says it’s a job that is rewarding.

“I love my job,” said Wurzel. “I get to take pictures and video of students in their classroom environments. What really means a lot to me is watching the relationships forged between the teacher and students and then capturing the students “aha” moments. I am really proud of all the hard work I witness from our teachers and students on a daily basis, and that sometimes brings tears to my eyes.”
