Walnut Grove Uses Mealworms to Teach Inquiry-Based Learning

Published September 2, 2016

Walnut Grove is using mealworms to teach its students the advantages of inquiry-based learning.

At the start of the school year, fifth graders were given some oatmeal and mealworms then told to make observations about what happened and record it in their science journal.

Teachers say the goal if inquiry-based learning such as this mealworm experiment it to put the ownership of education in the students’ hands.
