Two BHS Cheerleaders Named All-State

Published September 8, 2016

Two Williamson County students are among 18 from around the state who were chosen for the Tennessee Cheerleading Coaches Association All-State Cheerleading team.

Mary Kate Randolph and Laura Provence, both Brentwood High School seniors, were nominated by their coach to the TCCA. Along with that, they had to submit an essay and an application.

The work didn’t stop there, though. Thirty finalists were picked from across Tennessee, and those 30 cheerleaders had a personal interview and skills tryout with the TCCA executive board. Only then were the All-State cheerleaders picked.

“We are very proud of Mary Kate and Laura, who both exemplify what high school cheerleaders should be,” said Mandy Bicsak, the BHS varsity cheerleading coach. “They are dedicated to their team and school. They are strong students who work very hard on their skills and maintain a positive and encouraging demeanor.”

Mary Kate, Laura and the rest of the All-State team will be recognized at the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Cheerleading Championships in November, where one of those 18 cheerleaders will be named Cheerleader of the Year.
