Spring Station Cheerleaders Impress at Camp

Published August 19, 2016

The Spring Station Middle School cheerleaders are making noise. The school’s gold cheer squad attended cheer camp for the first time in school history this summer and took home three trophies.

The team attended Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Cheerleading Camp at Tennessee Tech University where the students learned cheers, chants, stunts and dances to use at games throughout the year.

The Gold Squad captured first place in “Cheer” and “Gameday” and took home second in “Extreme Routine.” It was also named a superior squad and the most improved middle school squad.

The school’s other cheer team, the Purple Squad, also went to camp this summer attending UCA Master’s Camp at the University of Mississippi where it won the overall IronMan award out of all middle school and junior varsity squads. The girls also won the “Best Use of Tumbling in the Extreme Routine” award and were named a superior squad.

“I am so happy that both of our teams got to go to camp this year,” said cheer coach Leslie Brewer. “Their hard work and dedication will help to build our program and reach our goal to be nationally competitive.”
