Rumor Mill – September 9, 2016

The purpose of this section is to answer any questions parents, teachers or community members might have regarding the school district and to set the record straight in regards to any rumors that might be circulating.

If you have a question or have heard a rumor that you would like for us to address, simply SEND US your questions and we will respond to them in upcoming issues of InFocus. Below are some of the questions we have received since our last issue.

There are apartments with approximately 900 units being built across the street from Longview Elementary School in Spring Hill. These will be finished before the school year ends. When will there be discussion about Rezoning in our area to accommodate new students? I am hearing lots of talk of a complete rezoning of the Spring Hill area.

The apartments being constructed across the street from Longview Elementary include Commonwealth at 31 which is approved for 264 units and Shirebrook which is approved for 98 units. Copper Ridge is a single-family development under construction in the same area with 210 lots approved.

At this time, no rezoning plans have been made. With the fast growth in the county, rezoning is always on the horizon. As it does each year, the district is in the process of reviewing school capacities. Stay tuned to InFocus for the latest updates.
