A group of Ravenwood High School students are now one step closer to launching a career in the nursing field.
All 15 of the students in the RHS nursing program passed the Tennessee State Certified Nursing Assistant Exam on April 29 and will have a leg up on the competition as they begin nursing school next year.
“All of these young men and women passed a very rigorous two part test on the first attempt,” said RHS nursing program director Tiffany Hyde. “This is a major accomplishment in their plans to pursue a career in nursing or other health care career, and I am super proud of them all.”
Ellie Bogle, Macy Chambers, Catie Crawford, Leah Etheridge, Emma Goode, Macy Lyle, Michael McGarvey, Savannah Micillo, Carter Nelson, Madison Owens, Emma Parrot, Celeste Vangeli, Anna Weeks, Sohayla Yazdani and Sousan Yazdani all earned their nursing assistant certification.
Started in 2009, this particular nursing program takes on 15 students a year and is designed to help future medical professionals learn the basics of patient care and gain an advantage as they head towards higher education. It is one of five nursing programs in WCS high schools. Centennial, Independence, Nolensville and Page also offer programs.
The program combines class and clinical work at the Somerfield Hospital and Williamson County Medical Center to give students a hands-on learning experience unique to Williamson County.
