Registration for EWLP Now Open

Published December 1, 2016

Registration for the WCS Elementary World Language Program’s Spanish and Chinese classes is now open for the spring semester. Available classes are listed on the district’s EWLP Webpage.

The goal of the K-5 program is for students to be able to communicate and exchange information about familiar topics using phrases and simple sentences. Students will be able to handle short social interactions in everyday situations by asking and answering simple questions. Students use the target language to explore various cultures in order to help them develop the 21st Century skills they need in order to become globally competent.

How can I help my child be successful in language class?

  • Ask your child about what they learned in language class. Let them teach your family!
  • Encourage any new language or culture interests. Check out books or videos from your local library.
  • Participate in language-learning or local cultural events. Take advantage of the many exciting events around our area throughout the year.

Please email any questions to WCS World Language Curriculum Specialist Christy Gilliland at Christina.gilliland@wcs.edu.
