Municipalities Declare September BE NICE Month

Published September 15, 2016

In a show of solidarity, leaders from the county and all six Williamson County municipalities have declared September, 2016, as BE NICE Month.

Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson issued the proclamation September 14. City leaders in Brentwood, Fairview, Franklin, Nolensville, Thompson’s Station and Spring Hill did the same at various times throughout the month.

“It’s important for students to know their city and county leaders support the BE NICE message,” said WCS Communications Director Carol Birdsong. “With their help, we will continue spreading a culture of kindness throughout the county.”

BE NICE 3.0, as it’s being called, officially kicked off May 23 when student ambassadors and faculty from each school gathered for the BE NICE Leadership Summit. They spent the day getting to know one another and learning new ways to spread the BE NICE message.

Students and staff also sat down with members of the WCS Communications team to discuss the BE NICE movement and what it means to them. The video above is one of several that WCS will continue to release in the coming months. It features students from Centennial High, Oak View Elementary, Page Middle and Winstead Elementary schools.
