Mayor Proclaims January Williamson Loves Libraries Month

Published January 10, 2017

Williamson County is demonstrating its love for libraries and dedication to developing student resources by proclaiming January, 2017 Libraries of Williamson County Month.

During the month of January, libraries will offer activities to highlight the various services they offer to students and teachers.

“We commend our librarians for devoting the month of January to celebrate libraries and design special activities which will encourage students to be excited about books and reading,” said WCS Literary Curriculum Specialist Cassandra Harrington. “We appreciate everyone who will be participating in this celebration.”

Sunset Middle Librarian Laura Kleman said the proclamation shows Williamson County’s commitment to improving student resources.

“You can just look at the libraries in Williamson County and see the commitment,” Kleman said. “It’s a coming together of our schools and our public libraries. We’re really fortunate to have everyone excited and supporting our students.”

The public is invited to attend a county-wide celebration on January 19 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at both the Brentwood and Williamson County public libraries. Students will get a chance to visit some of their favorite public and school librarians, play the passport game, meet a mascot and win a goodie bag.
