Franklin High Wins 6th Annual History Bowl

Published February 24, 2017

Franklin High School will have the honor of displaying the Sarah Bayrd American History Bowl Trophy on its campus for the next year.

The annual event was hosted by the Brentwood Historic Commission February 23 at the Brentwood City Hall.

FHS team members Will Haslam, Tian Geng and Bailey Lanai answered more questions correctly than any other team over the course of the 130-question competition to unseat last year’s winner, Brentwood High.

The Rebels’ team also outlasted Centennial High, Fairview High, Franklin High, Independence High, Page High, Ravenwood High, Summit High and first-time challenger Nolensville High.

Similar to the TV show, ‘Jeopardy,’ the History Bowl is made up of a total of four fast-paced rounds with the students buzzing in to answer. There is also a final question on which they can confer and risk some points.

The tournament is named after Sarah Bayrd, a long-time Advanced Placement American History teacher at Brentwood High.
