Franklin High Welcomes New Members to Athletic Hall of Fame

It was a star-packed night on January 27 as Franklin High School welcomed back six individuals and two teams to be inducted into the Rebel Hall of Fame.
Prior to tip off against visiting Dickson County, students, parents and fans applauded as former FHS athletes were introduced and recognized.
Individual inductees were:
Coach Pam Compton — Compton made two trips to the State Final Four as girls’ basketball coach in 1993 and 1994.
Doug Crosier — Crosier started in 1988 and served 12 years as Executive Principal at Franklin High School.
Coach Thomas Hopkins — Hopkins led the Rebels to the State Final Four as boys’ basketball coach in 1978.
John Paul Johnson — Johnson was an All-American football player from 1951-54 and played collegiality at Mississippi State. Johnson’s son, Ben, accepted in his honor.
Mickey Marley — Marley was a three-sport athlete at Franklin high school from 1974-76. He played college football at UT-Martin.
Brenda Rainey — Rainey was a stand-out girls basketball player from 1966-69 and received All-NIL selection.
Two memorable FHS basketball teams entered the Rebel Hall of Fame as well.
They were:
The 1969 Lady Rebels Basketball Team — The team posted a 26-3 record, winning the Middle Tennessee Invitational Tournament, District 22 Championship and finishing runner-up in the NIL.
The 1978 Rebels Basketball Team — The team advanced to the Final Four of the TSSAA State Tournament with a 25-9 record for the season.
To make the night even more special, both the girls and boys basketball teams earned big wins over Dickson County.
