FHS Student Named JROTC Outstanding Cadet

Franklin High School junior Michelangelo Hooghkirk was recently named an Outstanding Cadet by the Sons of the American Revolution.

Hooghkirk was honored at a SAR ceremony on March 5.

The award is presented to to ROTC or JROTC cadets who are selected for having a high degree of merit with respect to leadership qualities, military bearing, and general excellence.

“I enjoy JROTC because it teaches valuable leadership skills,” Hooghkirk said. “It requires dedication and commitment, and I have made many lasting friendships in the program. I’m happy to win this award because it represents all the work I’ve put into the program, and I feel honored that I was considered and selected to be the recipient.”
