FHS Band Captures Second Place in Regional Competition

The marching band season is off to a strong start for the Franklin High School band.
The band captured second place at its first competition of the season September 24 at Austin Peay State University. The contest featured a field of 20 schools from Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Kansas and Indiana. The FHS Band was also selected for Outstanding Music Performance and Outstanding Visual Performance.
Franklin’s 2016 show is entitled Mastermind and features musical compositions by actor Sir Anthony Hopkins and John Mackey. The band is under the direction of David Aydelott and assistant directors Michael Holland and Jacob Campos.
The Rebel Band will be back in action October 1 when it hosts the Sonic BOOM band contest. Joining the Rebels will be WCS peers Centennial, Ravenwood and Summit, as well as the bands from Brighton, Father Ryan, Station Camp and Union City.
The event begins at 6 p.m. in Howard Gamble Stadium at Franklin High School, located at 810 Hillsboro Road in Franklin. Admission is $7 at the gate.
