Fairview Students Receive State Degrees

Published April 19, 2017

Two Fairview High School students are earning recognition for being among the top members of the Tennessee FFA Association.

Harlie Orr and Cassidy Berry were awarded state degrees at this year’s State FFA Competition in Gatlinburg, which is the highest honor a state FFA member can receive.

State degrees are given to students who have earned at least $1,000 or worked at least 300 hours in excess of scheduled class time in their supervised ag experience project. They also have to know 10 procedures of parliamentary law; serve as an officer or committee chairperson; have satisfactory scholastic records; plan and complete the chapter’s program of activities; and participate in at least five different FFA activities above the chapter level.

In addition, Fairview High FFA President Elliott Jones was presented with an award for the chapter’s 10 percent increase in membership. The group’s sponsor is David Harper.
