More than 35 middle and high school students from WCS had the chance to show off their tech skills at the 39th Annual Tennessee Technology Student Association State Conference April 5-6 at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
Students from Fairview Middle, Fairview High and Page High presented on a wide field of tech topics ranging from inventions and innovations, to on-demand video and dragster design. While at the conference, middle school students competed in 24 different technology based competitions, and the high school students competed in 11.
In addition to the 20 awards collected, Fairview High sophomore Elizabeth Bulay was elected to serve as the 2017-2018 State Treasurer.
Fairview and Page also swept advisor of the year honors with FVMS teacher Sara Reynolds winning the TN TSA Middle School Advisor of the Year award, and PHS teacher Jimmy Baker being named the TN TSA High School Advisor of the Year.
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a student organization for young men and women who are interested in areas related to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The TSA State Leadership Conference gives students the chance to participate in multiple technology related competitions with other students from across Tennessee. Participants also attend leadership development sessions and represent their schools and during other conference activities.
