Dr. Looney Meets with PTO Presidents

Growth, school start times and a Parents’ Bill of Rights. Those were just a few of the topics discussed September 7 as parent organization leaders from across the district met with Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney.
The meeting was the first of several Superintendent Looney will have this year with PTO/PTA/PTSO presidents and school principals. The sessions provide an opportunity for sharing district information, while giving parents the chance to ask questions of district leadership.
At Wednesday’s meeting, Looney told those in attendance that growth continues to be a concern in the county. He also discussed the need for additional bus drivers and asked for feedback regarding a proposed Parents’ Bill of Rights.
“We met with Dr. Looney to learn what’s in store for the future of Williamson County Schools and what’s in store for the future of construction and start times,” said Grassland Middle School Parents’ Club President Laura Miller. “I’m always amazed by the growth of WCS. Dr. Looney told us there will be another 10,000 students in the next five years.”
Despite the challenges, Looney says the district is poised for even greater success down the road.
“We are fortunate to have such incredible support by our parents,” said Looney. “These men and women provide a valuable service to our district and we are thankful for them.”
