City of Brentwood Holds Arbor Day Writing Contest
Published February 1, 2017
Get your imagination ready, because the city of Brentwood is getting ready for its annual Arbor Day Essay Contest.
The writing contest, hosted by the Tree Board of Brentwood, is open to all high school English and environmental science students at Brentwood and Ravenwood high schools. Other categories like a poster contest and a photography contest will be open to more people.
For the writing contest, there will be three cash prizes awarded: first place will receive $120, second place will receive $80 and third place will receive $50. The first and second place winners will also be invited to read their works at the Arbor Day Celebration on April 1.
This year’s topic for all writing contest entries is “Branching Out.” The submission can be an essay or a poem, but it can’t be more than 500 words and must be double-spaced. When submitting, make sure to list your name, school and the teacher name on each page.
The deadline for submission is March 15 at 4 p.m. All entries must be sent to Lynn Tucker, the Tree Board chairman at lynn@williamsonchamber.com. Additional information can be found on the City of Brentwood’s website.
