Brentwood Middle Student Places in National Technology Competition

Middle school is a time of development and learning, and one Brentwood Middle student is taking full advantage of it.
Brentwood Middle school student Srihita Adabala placed fifth nationally in the ProjectCSGIRLS Competition for Middle School Girls. ProjectCSGIRLS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the gender gap in computing and technological careers.
This is the fourth time the competition has been held, and it’s all about challenging girls to innovate and solve problems.
As a part of the challenge, girls had to pick from global health, a safer world or intelligent technologies as a theme for their project. They would then need to think of an idea involving technology, introduce their technology and explain it in several different ways for judging.
Srihita came up with an idea to combat heat stroke. Her technology, called Temp, is a wearable temperature sensor that sends alerts whenever the user’s body temperature reaches a certain level. It serves as a warning for heat stroke risk and, if successful, could save many lives.
Her fifth-place finish earned her a FitBit and an engraved award.
