Board Approves Rezoning Plan for 2018-19 School Year

Published May 18, 2017

The Williamson County School Board approved a District-wide Rezoning Plan on May 15, effective for the 2018-19 school year.

Students will be zoned to three new schools, and the number of students at schools who are over their stated building capacity will be reduced.

Elementary and middle schools are under construction off Clayton Arnold Road in Thompson’s Station, and construction starts soon on an elementary school off Split Log Road in Brentwood. All three will open to start the 2018-19 school year.

Students who will be rezoned in 2018-19 will be allowed to attend their newly-zoned school in 2017-18 if space is available. The schools that are open-zoned include: Bethesda, Chapman’s Retreat, Heritage, Sunset and Winstead elementary schools and Heritage and Sunset middle schools.

The Board only approved rising ninth graders in the area being rezoned to start a year early at Centennial, Independence, Ravenwood and Summit high schools. The deadline to apply is June 5, and transportation must be provided by the parent/guardian for the 2017-18 school year.

Additionally, the School Board approved an open-zoning parameter for the 2018-19 school year. The students who attend Woodland Middle and Mill Creek Middle as sixth graders and the students who attend Page High as ninth graders in the 2017-18 school year and who would be rezoned are allowed to apply for and be granted open-zone approval to remain at their current school through the highest grade level of the school.

Out-of-Transportation Zone forms will be available after the February School Board Meeting with the deadline to apply of May 15, 2018.
