BHS Enterprise Earns Gold Certification
Published February 17, 2017
Brentwood High School’s BREWin’s DEN is among 360 school-based enterprises nationwide to earn gold level certification from DECA.
Although it has only been around a couple of years, the BREWin’s DEN has quickly become a popular spot for BHS students looking to purchase coffee. School-based enterprises like the BREWin’s DEN provide students with an opportunity to build management, supervision and leadership skills.
School stores can be certified at three levels: bronze, silver or gold. In order to apply for the certification, school-based enterprises must submit extensive documentation that demonstrates their adherence to various marketing and retail standards. After the documentation is submitted, a review committee evaluates the documentation to determine which level of certification has been achieved.
Brentwood High School students Sims Bell, Grace Long and Clay Cox worked on the certification with the help of their adviser, Lisa Nease. The BREWin’s DEN will be recognized at DECA’s International Career Development Conference this April in California.
