Centennial High School Principal Dr. Leigh Webb has been named the new Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources for Williamson County Schools, and Brentwood High Assistant Principal Chris Hames has been named as the Principal of Centennial High. Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney made the announcements today.
Webb is replacing Rebecca Owens, who is leaving the district to take a position at Wilson County Schools.
“Leigh’s work at Centennial has been exceptional, and I know that she will be missed there,” said Looney. “However, this is an opportunity for her to continue to learn more about district operations, and honestly, we need her leadership skills and expertise in the HR department at the Central Office now.”
Webb said leaving Centennial will be difficult, but she is looking forward to the challenge of her new role.
“It has been my honor to serve as the proud principal of Centennial High,” said Webb. “Throughout my 16 years as a high school administrator, nowhere else have I experienced the sense of family and community that Centennial possesses. There is something very special happening here. Centennial is a first class community in every facet. I will have the opportunity to continue to support CHS in my new role while also providing guidance and support to all the schools in the district.”
Webb said she and Hames have worked together in the past and have already been working together to ensure a smooth transition.
“I have tremendous respect for the passion and expertise Chris will bring to this position and our community. I am very excited to see what lies ahead for our community under his great leadership,” said Webb.
Hames has served as assistant principal in Williamson County Schools since 2002 for a combined 11 years and has worked at Brentwood and Fairview high schools. He was the principal of Cameron Middle School in Metro Davidson County for four years; assistant principal of Middleton High School in Hardeman County for two years and a teacher at Bolton High School in Shelby County for six years.
“Chris is a longtime administrator in our district and knows the county well,” said Looney. “In the schools where he has served, he has demonstrated how student success comes with building community. He will work hard to make sure all students and their families are connected, engaged and successful in the Cougar Nation.”
Hames is looking forward to continuing the success of Centennial.
“I am thankful and honored to be the new principal at Centennial High School,” said Hames. “Having served in WCS for many years, I know that Centennial is a great school with wonderful students, staff and a great community. I look forward to the opportunity and am excited to build on the great success that Dr. Webb and the Cougar Nation have achieved.”
Hames earned his Bachelor’s in Secondary Education from the University of Alabama and his Master’s in Leadership Studies in Education from the University of Tennessee.
Webb and Hames will begin their new roles on July 1, 2017.
