Sunset Elementary School is proud to recognize Cole Tarter as its Academic All-Star for the 2016-17 school year.
The announcement was made during an assembly April 7, in which Cole was recognized in front of his entire school.
Sunset Elementary Principal Karen Caldwell says Cole is very deserving of this special award.
“Cole is a self-motivated and responsible student who sets high expectations for himself,” said Caldwell. “He is a role model for his peers; he helps classmates in need; and he always has a positive attitude. Cole strives to be the best he can be. He is reflective on his learning and asks for help when he notices there are standards that he hasn’t mastered.”
Being a fifth grader, Cole has enjoyed his time at Sunset Elementary, but he’s also ready to move on to the next chapter in his life.
“Sunset Elementary is great,” said Cole. “The teachers are very nice and they make learning fun, but I’m also excited to move on to Sunset Middle. We’ll get to have lockers and a lot more freedom.”
In his free time, Cole enjoys playing sports like basketball and soccer with his friends. He even has a pretty good idea of what he wants to be when he grows up.
“I think I want to be an engineer,” said Cole. “My dad has shown me some stuff about it, and it seems like a good job.”
To be an engineer, Cole knows he’ll have to continue working hard.
“You need to learn so you can be smart when you grow up and have a job,” said Cole. “I want to be able to make a living and be successful.”
