Academic All-Star – Spring Station Middle

The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, free food from Chick-fil-A and Sonic Drive-In and a free gift courtesy of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More in Franklin.

It’s not often that you meet a middle school student who’s willing to admit he or she loves school. But that’s the case for seventh grader Jack Hill who was recently named Spring Station Middle School’s Academic All-Star.

From the first time Jack saw Spring Station, he knew it was the place for him.

“The first thing I noticed about the school was how big it was,” said Jack. “I knew I was going to love it right away. When I stepped inside, it just blew my mind.”

Now, as he finishes his second year, Jack has made quite the impact on his teachers.

“Jack is one of the most respectful students that I have had come through my doors,” said Jack’s Spanish teacher, Luke Roe. “He arrives to class early, continually challenges himself to be better and is always prepared to put forth his best effort in class.”

It makes sense, because Jack loves going to school.

“It’s fun,” said Jack. “Every day I think of what new things I’m going to learn today and what I’ve gone over. School is such a great place to be.”

With an attitude like that, it’s no surprise that Jack’s teachers think the world of him.

“Jack is a perfect example of what it means to be an Academic All-Star,” said Jack’s social studies teacher Josh Weinstein. “He is kind and courteous to all he meets, perseveres when faced with challenges and gives his best effort at all times. It is hard to think of someone more deserving than Jack.”

Jack is a well-rounded student who not only plays trombone in the Spring Station Middle School Band, but he also plays basketball, baseball and football.

With the school year winding down, administrators say they’re excited to see what Jack will accomplish next year and beyond.

“I am excited that we can showcase a great kid to the Spring Hill community and to the county at large,” said Spring Station Middle School Principal Paula Pulliam. “Jack will always be a great example to other students, and I know that his future is a bright one.”
