Academic All-Star – Lipscomb Elementary School

The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, free food from Chick-fil-A and Sonic Drive-In and a free gift courtesy of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More in Franklin.

Lipscomb Elementary School is proud to recognize fourth grader Sam Faison as its Academic All-Star for the 2016-17 school year.

The surprise announcement was made during an assembly March 6. Lipscomb Elementary Principal Michelle Contich says Sam is very deserving of this special award.

“Sam is a wonderful student who is always up for the task and perseveres through any challenge he is given with a smile on his face and a genuine ‘can do’ attitude,” said Contich.

Sam has attended Lipscomb since second grade and says he enjoys all of the cool activities the school has to offer, but his two favorite subjects are math and reading.

“I think reading is fun, especially when you finish a book,” said Sam. “It’s like a series of TV shows; once you finish one series you have to go to the next series.”

Outside of school, Sam likes to play soccer, which is something he has done since he was in first grade.

“I like being goalie,” Sam said. “It’s fun because I get to play with other people. I also like the excitement of winning, and every year I get a trophy.”

Although he’d like to be a soccer player when he grows up, Sam says there’s a chance he might follow in his father’s footsteps and become a lawyer. No matter what he chooses, Sam knows he’s headed for success with the support of the teachers and staff at Lipscomb.

“I feel like I’m appreciated here,” said Sam. “Even before I got this award, I felt appreciated by the teachers and staff.”
