Academic All-Star – Edmondson Elementary

Published December 14, 2016

The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, free food from Chick-fil-A and Sonic Drive-In and a free gift courtesy of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More in Franklin.

Eleven-year-old Drew Cook is the kind of student who always tries his best. That’s one reason why teachers and administrators at Edmondson Elementary selected Drew to be the school’s Academic All-Star for the 2016-17 school year.

“Throughout his years at Edmondson, Drew has consistently demonstrated perseverance and dedication to his academic growth,” said Drew’s teachers. “We are so proud of his great progress, outstanding attitude and relentless pursuit of becoming a better person and student every day.”

Having attended Edmondson since kindergarten, Drew says he loves everything about the school, including his teachers and classmates.

“I like Edmondson because I get to meet new friends each year,” said Drew. “The teachers are nice too, and when I get stuck on something that’s hard in class, they’re always there to help me.”

Drew’s favorite subject is history, which could serve him well if he decides to pursue his dream job.

“I want to be someone who researches fossils when I grow up,” said Drew. “I love to learn about prehistoric animals, especially how they lived and what happened during their time on Earth.”

When he’s not studying history, Drew enjoys playing outside with friends and practicing martial arts, in which he is currently a level two green belt.

Although he may be a little nervous about making the transition to middle school next year, Drew’s teachers say his wonderful personality and commitment to being the best student he can be will serve him well in middle school and beyond.

“Drew comes in with a smile every day and always treats his peers and teachers with respect,” said his teachers. “He is a delight to have in class and true role model for other students.”
