The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, free food from Chick-fil-A and Sonic Drive-In and a free gift courtesy of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More in Franklin.
Fifth grader Hadley Osborn is the type of student who always tries her best. That’s why teachers at College Grove Elementary School say she deserves to be named this year’s Academic All-Star.
“Hadley’s work ethic is so impressive,” said fifth grade teacher Shelby Smith. “Each and every day she gives 110 percent. I love that she never gives up and tackles every challenge with a smile on her face.”
Hadley has attended College Grove since kindergarten and says she will miss all of the wonderful teachers at CGES when she moves on to Page Middle next year. Her favorite subject is reading, which is something she likes to do both inside and outside of the classroom. Other passions include spending time on the lake with her family and playing softball.
“I play catcher,” Hadley said. “I didn’t want to play softball at first, but my parents made me. Now I like it.”
In addition to playing softball, Hadley enjoys collecting geodes and cracking them open with her parents. She likes it so much, she even thinks she might want to be a geologist when she grows up.
No matter what career she chooses, Hadley’s teachers say she will continue to excel if she stays determined and keeps her incredible work ethic.
“Hadley is the epitome of a hard-working, respectful student,” said fifth grade teacher Katie Evans. “Whether skills come easily to her or not, she perseveres to become successful. She is an Academic All-Star in my class due to her dedication and respect in everything she does. I am so proud of this sweet young lady.”
