Academic All-Star – Clovercroft Elementary

Published November 17, 2016

The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, free food from Chick-fil-A and a free gift courtesy of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More in Franklin.

Hard-working, honest and helpful. Those are a few words that are often used to describe 11-year-old Caroline Ripley.

The Clovercroft Elementary School fifth grader is a model student who always comes to school with a smile on her face. So it’s no surprise that teachers and administrators at Clovercroft selected her as the school’s 2016-17 Academic All-Star.

“Caroline is a hard worker and faces any task with a smile,” said Clovercroft Elementary Principal Dr. Elizabeth Vest. “She takes initiative and ownership of her learning.”

Caroline began attending Clovercroft as a kindergartner when the school opened in 2011. As part of the first class of students to spend all six years at Clovercroft, Caroline says she takes a lot of pride in her school.

“I’m on student council, and we try to make things better about the school,” said Caroline. “We list ways that we can help. At our last meeting, we thought of ways that we can raise money for the school.”

Caroline’s favorite subjects are reading and writing. Outside of school, she enjoys participating in gymnastics and horseback riding – two things she may consider for a future career.

“I want to be either a teacher, a horseback rider or a gymnastics coach when I grow up,” said Caroline. “I just like giving instructions.”

Although she will be sad to leave Clovercroft, Caroline says she looks forward to starting a new chapter next year in middle school as she continues to make her education a top priority.

“School is really important to me because I want to go to a Tennessee college, and I just want to work really hard for that.”
