A Parent Guide to Being TNReady
Published August 24, 2016
With all of the changes regarding this year’s TNReady assessments, the Tennessee Department of Education has compiled a new resource for parents.
It’s called A Parent Guide to Being TNReady and it’s now available on the TNDOE website along with a supplement about supporting students with disabilities.
In July, the department announced it is reducing the amount of testing by 30 percent overall. The department will also eliminate Part I of the TCAP Assessment and break the test into shorter subparts in an effort to minimize disruption to the normal school schedule.
Unlike previous years where some TCAP testing happened in February, all TNReady assessments in 2016-2017 will be administered during the state’s window of April 17 through May 5. Specific WCS dates for each assessment can be found on the district’s assessment calendar.
TNReady is the assessment suite under the TCAP umbrella that students in grades 3-8 and specific high school courses take in the spring.
