Williamson County Schools BE NICE campaign is about to hit the road – literally.
On May 23, WCS unveiled its new BE NICE license plate to students and staff who had gathered for the district’s BE NICE kick-off event at Franklin High. Kenrose Elementary School parent Carla Green championed the license plate initiative through the state legislature.
Each license plate will cost a total of $36.05, with $12 going to support the BE NICE campaign at the school of the buyer’s choice and $3.25 going toward the Kenrose PTO. For the state to create the license plate, at least 1,000 people must be pre-order the plate which can be done on the Kenrose PTO’s website.
With the BE NICE campaign now in its third year, Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney says he’s proud of how parents, students, staff and community members have embraced the message.
“This has really taken off in a huge way,” said WCS Superintendent Mike Looney said. “It’s not just about saying ‘be nice.’ It’s about actually being nice because people learn by watching what you do as adults and as students. It’s one thing to say ‘be nice,’ but it’s also important that you show them what being nice is like.”
