WCS Students Compete at National Jump Rope Championships

More than a dozen WCS students can jump for joy following their performance at this year’s Pan American National Jump Rope Championships.
The students are members of the Hot Shots Jump Rope Team. Members consist of students from Grassland Middle and Franklin High. They traveled to Orlando, Florida, this month to compete against teams from as far away as Canada, Bermuda and Trinidad and Tobago.
A total of 13 WCS students competed in events like speed jumping, single rope freestyle, pairs freestyle, pairs Chinese wheel and double dutch. Hot Shots had 12 jumpers receive gold medal status with eight of those selected as grand national champions.
Hannah Walling, Franklin High; Cara Moyers, Franklin High; Sara Smith, Grassland Middle; Jacob Weatherford, Franklin High; Olivia Byrd, Franklin High; and Delaney Talbert, Grassland Middle; had the honor of showcasing their gold events at the grand national championships on Tuesday, July 5.
