Bethesda Elementary School teacher Pat Seyb is the Tennessee Teachers to Speakers of Other Languages (TNTESOL) Teacher of the Year for Middle Tennessee.
The announcement was made March 19 at the group’s annual conference. The award recognizes K-12 ESL teachers with distinguished careers in English language teaching.
“We all know how incredibly dedicated Pat is to her serving students, school and district,” said WCS ESL Supervisor Joseph Whinery. “There’s no way a plaque can fully capture all that Pat accomplishes, but it is a symbol of well-deserved recognition by peers in our district and our professional organization.”
Pat says she feels fortunate to be part of an organization like TNTESOL which provides extended professional development specific to English language learners and celebrates the teachers in this area.
“It is an honor to receive recognition from my peers for being able to do what I truly love doing – teaching my wonderful, hardworking students,” said Pat. “WCS has a wonderful ESL team of mutually supportive teachers and supervisors, and the principals and staffs of every school I have worked at in Williamson County have welcomed the challenge and opportunity of working with students from all over the world.”
