WCS Celebrates School Board Appreciation Week

Published January 21, 2016

January 24-30 is School Board Appreciation Week in the state of Tennessee. The purpose of the week is to build awareness and understanding of the vital functions a locally elected board of education plays in our community.

Williamson County Schools will join public school districts from across the state to celebrate School Board Appreciation Week and honor local board members for their commitment to children.

“Our school board members are a vital link between the Williamson County community and the classroom,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. “Even though we are making a special effort this month to show appreciation for our board members, we realize their contribution is a year-round commitment.”

The Williamson County Board of Education consists of one member elected from each of the 12 voting districts to serve a four year term of office. Elections were held for even numbered districts in 2014. Elections for odd numbered districts will take place in 2016.

Williamson County School Board members are Kenneth Peterson, First District; Dan Cash, Second District; PJ Mezera, Third District; Anne McGraw, Fourth District; Gary Anderson, Fifth District (Chairman); Jay Galbreath, Sixth District; Bobby Hullett, Seventh District; Candace Emerson, Eighth District; Rick Wimberly, Ninth District; Dr. Beth Burgos, Tenth District; Mark Gregory, Eleventh District; and Susan Curlee, Twelfth District.

Board meetings are held the third Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Williamson County Administration building unless otherwise noted. To contact your School Board member, visit our website at https://old.wcs.edu/school-board/board-members/.
