Traffic Alert: Lane Shift Near Franklin High
Published May 5, 2016
Traffic on Hillsboro Road near Franklin High School could become more of a challenge.
Beginning May 6, construction crews will shift the existing two lanes of Hillsboro Road to the west while crews make roadway and utility infrastructure improvements to Hillsboro Road.
The existing roadway shoulders will be eliminated, and the traffic lanes will be narrowed from 12 feet to 10 feet each to allow room for the contractor to start working on the Franklin High School side of Hillsboro Road.
During this time, the speed limit in front of Franklin High School will be reduced from 35 mph to 25 mph for worker and pedestrian safety. The contractor hopes to wrap up most of the construction work in front of Franklin High later this winter. They will then begin working full time on the residential side of Hillsboro Road.
The entire project is scheduled for completion in August 2017.
