State Releases District TCAP Test Results

Published July 31, 2015

The State Department of Education released district and school-level scores for the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) this week and WCS experienced academic gains in nearly all tested subjects.

TN Ready will replace TCAP starting in spring 2016 and like the TCAP, will continue to be administered to grades three through eight.

High school students take end of course exams in Algebra I and II, Biology I, Chemistry, and English I, II and III.

“We experienced academic gains again this year, and I am so proud of everyone,” said WCS Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. “Of course, we still have work to do.”

WCS exceeded the state average on the TCAP in reading/language arts by 32.3 percent; in math by 25.9 percent; and in science by 26.6 percent.

There was also a 98 percent increase in the number of students passing at least one Advanced Placement exam, and enrollment in AP courses increased by 102 percent compared to last year.

And for the third year in a row, the district is projecting that WCS students will set another record for highest ACT scores earned in Williamson County schools.
