Cooperative groups were formed and each student had a job to complete. Students modeled water erosion and the effects water has on land. They measured the length and width of the stream as well as the width of the deposition. They made predictions and compared their results with other simulations to deepen their understanding of the vocabulary.

In this particular class, students were recognizing the various literary techniques that Poe used to create suspense, were identifying textual evidence as support and then explaining how each piece of evidence developed the tone of suspense throughout the story. Mrs. Leake said, “Lessons such as these are rigorous, but we are all learning together. This will make us all better readers and writers.”
