Elementary Schools
Bethesda Elementary
Snowbird is scheduled to visit Bethesda Elementary on Friday, February 12. Last year Snowbird visited Bethesda Elementary and after he left we missed a whole week of school. I am starting to think Snowbird brought the snow this time before his visit. Snowbird must have really needed his snow. Snowbird must have needed to see the beautiful snowflakes and feel the cold of winter. The smiles on the children’s faces and the cheer in their excitement to see snow is as beautiful as the sparkling white snow itself.
Clovercroft Elementary
Clovercroft is so proud of the student artists whose masterpieces were chosen for the the Williamson County Art Show at the Frist Center for the Arts in Nashville. The students’ artwork will be on display from February 27 through March 13 in the museum. Congratulations to the following students: Dylan Kowalski, Elle Willits, Hannah Colbert, Julie Quentin, Sophie Clark, Karan Jindal, Logan Smith, Natalie Blank, Brianna Baker, Trevor Littlejohn, Aditi Jindal and Brett Forsberg.
Crockett Elementary
Over 100 students are participating in Jump Rope Club at Crockett Elementary. Students are learning the importance of taking care of their hearts through regular exercise. The club will meet on Friday mornings from 7:30 a.m. until 8:10 a.m. until the end of March. Teachers and staff would like to thank our PTO for providing a fabulous lunch on Thursday and for always being so supportive.
Fairview Elementary
This has been a busy week at Fairview Elementary even being out for a couple of days! On Thursday, February 11, the Williamson County Ambassadors came to visit the Fairview area and spent some time at FES. They attended our community meeting, toured the school and sat in with a teacher panel. Each ambassador had their very own fifth grade guide to give them the low down on how things work at FES. The international lunch club is meeting next week to explore their fourth country this year, Australia! To attend the lunch, students had to complete a project on their own outside of school. Over 60 students created dioramas, posters and mobiles and will get to experience a lunch down under!
Grassland Elementary
Please support the GES Kids Care Valentines Drive. Personal care items such as shampoo, laundry detergent, baby wipes, etc. will be collected until Friday, February 12. Thank you to everyone who has sent donations. For those who want to send in contributions, there is still time. Collection boxes are located in the hallway outside the cafeteria. Thank you for your support.

Lipscomb Elementary
First grade teacher Mary Beth Carroll is Dressed for Success during our Random Acts of Kindness Week.
Longview Elementary
Ms. Hughes’ fifth grade math class was given an assignment to be a backpack designer at a sportswear company. The students were asked to make smaller backpack for a toddler and larger backpack for teens. The project connects operations of measurement and fractions in solving real world problems. Geometry and measurement are key elements in creating a successful backpack design. Correct measuring of component parts is crucial to the backpack having the correct volume and comfort for the consumer to use. The students used a variety of math skills as they made patterns and prototypes for their designs. A young scholar may have found their “dream job” as a designer.

Nolensville Elementary
Third grade students participated in Star Wars themed writing and math camps to prepare for the TN Ready tests. Students rotated through third grade classrooms engaging in a variety of games and activities. A highlight for students and teachers was an appearance by a Storm Trooper, Erik Rumbaugh. He impressed students with his knowledge about all things Star Wars.
Pearre Creek Elementary
Mrs. Julie Boggess is excited to announce that the Pearre Creek Library won second place in the Fall 2015 Scholastic Book Fairs National Elementary School Contest. The library was awarded $1,000 Scholastic Dollars to purchase materials for the library. The contest entries were judged on decorations, volunteer participation and special events. The library was transformed into a Monster Book Fair with the help of amazing volunteers. The Book Fair Committee Chairwomen Stacie Stanley, Kristen Fisher and Erica Holiday were each amazing contributors to the success of the Book Fair in all areas.
Trinity Elementary
Second graders at Trinity Elementary have been very busy. Mrs. Reed’s class received a special visit from Mr. Rich, the science guy. They learned about simple machines and even made a catapult to shoot marshmallows at one another. Mrs. Reed’s class also learned about teamwork by building the tallest spaghetti tower with their fifth grade buddies.
Walnut Grove Elementary
Walnut Grove’s second graders have been practicing identifying and counting coin amounts and making change with a restaurant simulation. The children have worked in pairs to create a restaurant name/theme, a menu and food. They have all practiced being a customer and a server. Servers took orders and added up price amounts and made change using calculators. Students learned that making change is an important life skill. In writing this week, students read different stories about friendship and compared and contrasted them. They then made graphic organizers and used them to write an opinion essay on which story they thought displayed the best example of friendship.
Winstead Elementary
Winstead first graders are busy learning about weather. On February 11, Channel 4 Meteorologist Lisa Spencer came to Winstead to talk with students about how to stay safe in various weather conditions like tornadoes, lightning and flooding. The students enjoyed her visit and learned all about weather and how the earth effects weather changes. In other news, our Winstead family is full of talent! Thank you PTO and all volunteers who helped with our talent show. Important dates to remember: Monday, February 15: No School. Wednesday, February 17: PAAW Program Begins.
Middle Schools
Heritage Middle
Mrs. Sarah Fisher was recognized by Daisy Oldham for always helping her and being an amazing teacher!
Spring Station Middle
The Spring Station Middle HOSA group celebrated Heart Health month by sending heart healthy valentines to the teachers and staff. Students began their HOSA meeting this month by going on a scavenger hunt throughout school to locate various facts about the human heart. They also learned about different things that people can do to keep their heart in good shape such as getting a flu shot, eating healthy foods, exercising regularly and even bundling up when the winter weather hits. The students then wrote individual valentines to the staff sharing these different tips and using the tag line “Your Heart is Important to Mine!” The staff seemed to enjoy getting these surprise notes from the students when they came back to work after the snow break.
