Scales Elementary Counselor Named Elementary School Counselor of the Year

Scales Elementary Counselor Shelbie Ely received quite the surprise at the Tennessee Counseling Association (TCA) Conference in November.

While there, the Tennessee School Counselors Association (TSCA) named Ely the Tennessee School Counselor of the Year.

“I am thrilled to be named the Elementary School Counselor of the Year by TSCA,” said Ely. “I absolutely love my job as a school counselor and feel blessed to be a part of such a great team of administrators, faculty, staff and families at Scales Elementary.”

The TCA is an organization that allows for continued professional development in the field of counseling and networking with other counselors throughout the state of Tennessee. TSCA is a division of TCA.

“To be honored with this recognition is humbling, as I feel I am just one part of the puzzle- it definitely takes a village and team in the world of education to inspire, encourage and teach young people,” said Ely. “I am grateful for this recognition and that someone took the time to nominate me for the work we do as school counselors. It is my continued hope to be a positive resource for the students, families and colleagues at Scales Elementary in the years to come.”
