Rumor Mill – September 25, 2015

Published September 25, 2015

The purpose of this section is to answer any questions parents, teachers or community members might have regarding the school district and to set the record straight in regards to any rumors that might be circulating.

If you have a question or have heard a rumor that you would like for us to address, simply SEND US your questions and we will respond to them in upcoming issues of InFocus. Below are some of the questions we have received since our last issue.

When will the principal for Mill Creek Elementary School be announced? I have two children attending Nolensville Elementary and one with an IEP; both will be attending Mill Creek Elementary next year. It would be great for the new Mill Creek Elementary principal to work with the NES principal and staff in an effort to meet the students attending Mill Creek Elementary next year, but especially those with an IEP. The staff at NES has been wonderful to work with; I hope the experience will be the same next year at Mill Creek Elementary.

While an announcement may come sooner, plans are in place to have the new Mill Creek Elementary principal housed in Nolensville Elementary beginning in January. This will give him/her time to develop relationships with the students and staff at Nolensville Elementary before Mill Creek Elementary opens in August.

We have recently purchased a home in Tuscany Hills. We are the last neighborhood on our side of Split Log that stays zoned to Ravenwood. I was initially told that all of the rezoning was done 1-2 years ago and we would remain zoned to Ravenwood. In the last couple of weeks I have had numerous people tell me that the district is adding an additional couple of neighborhoods to the new Nolensville High School and ours would be included. Can you please verify? When do you anticipate another rezoning in our area? I have heard nothing consistently since moving here in February of this year.

The School Board approved the zoning for Nolensville High, Mill Creek Middle and Mill Creek Elementary schools on April 21, 2014. When the zone lines were established, the Board made the commitment not to change the lines between the approval date and the opening of the schools in August 2016. The district will not submit a major rezoning proposal for the upcoming school year.
