The purpose of this section is to answer any questions parents, teachers or community members might have regarding the school district and to set the record straight in regards to any rumors that might be circulating.

If you have a question or have heard a rumor that you would like for us to address, simply SEND US your questions and we will respond to them in upcoming issues of InFocus. Below are some of the questions we have received since our last issue.

I was reviewing the Five (5) Year Capital Outlay Plan 2014 – 2019 approved 11/17/2014. The schedule contains a line item for the purchase of land and construction of a new “Brentwood Area” elementary school to be completed by Fall 2017. Where is this new school to be located and is it under construction? I have not seen or heard about a new elementary school in the Brentwood Area, therefore, I am assuming the project has been delayed or tabled. If the project does transpire, what current elementary schools in Brentwood are intended to be rezoned to the new school?

The district’s Five Year Capital Outlay Plan currently includes plans for a new elementary school in the Brentwood area. No land has been purchased at this time; therefore it is too early to know which current schools would likely be rezoned. Will the opening of the new Nolensville schools affect zoning for the McKay’s Mill subdivision?

McKay’s Mill zoning is not affected by the new Nolensville schools.

We live in Southern Woods. Will we remain at Brentwood Middle School or will we be going to Nolensville for the 2016-17 school year?

Zoning for the Southern Woods area will not change for the 2016-17 school year. Only students from Sunset Middle School were rezoned to Mill Creek Middle School.
