The purpose of this section is to answer any questions parents, teachers or community members might have regarding the school district and to set the record straight in regards to any rumors that might be circulating.
If you have a question or have heard a rumor that you would like for us to address, simply SEND US your questions and we will respond to them in upcoming issues of InFocus. Below are some of the questions we have received since our last issue.
I heard the new Nolensville area schools (Mill Creek Elementary, Mill Creek Middle and Nolensville High) will be overcrowded as soon as they open this year and that they will have to be rezoned as early as next year. Is this true?
That is incorrect. Our current enrollment projections for the three schools are as follows: Mill Creek Elementary – 610 students, Mill Creek Middle – 585 students and Nolensville High – 435 students. Projections for all three schools are well below capacity for the facilities. The architectural capacities for the schools are 800, 800 and 1,671 respectively.
What’s the latest on the new school to be built in Thompson’s Station? We were last told that the land was close to being purchased on Critz and Clayton Arnold, and that the new school would be built to open in August of 2017. I then heard that it may be pushed back to a Christmas opening in the 2017-2018 school year. Can you please give us an update?
We have taken bids on the new school on Clayton Arnold Road in Thompson’s Station, and we are in the process of preparing the contract for construction. The Board will be discussing this at its August meeting.
