If you have a question or have heard a rumor that you would like for us to address, simply SEND US your questions and we will respond to them in upcoming issues of InFocus. Below are some of the questions we have received since our last issue.
The new Clayton Arnold/Critz Lane middle school that is scheduled to open in 2017-18 in Thompson’s Station will feed to what high school?
At this point, it is too early to know which high school the proposed middle school will feed into. Once the land purchase is finalized, the process of zoning will begin.
I am wondering if what I have been told is true… WCS is changing the kindergarten birthday cut-off to August 1. Additionally, when are the dates for kindergarten registration for the 2016-17 school year?
According to the State Department of Education, children entering kindergarten shall be five years of age on or before August 15. This is a state law which means it cannot be changed by individual school districts. We are not aware of any discussion by state lawmakers to try and change the kindergarten cutoff date.
When will kindergarten registration take place for the 2016-17 school year?
Kindergarten registration will start Monday, March 28 and run through Friday, April 1. For registration, parents will go to the school for which their student is zoned. Each school sets certain days and times for school specific registration. This information will be released in a future InFocus once it is finalized. The information will also be available on each school website once dates and times have been finalized.
