The purpose of this section is to answer any questions parents, teachers or community members might have regarding the school district and to set the record straight in regards to any rumors that might be circulating.

If you have a question or have heard a rumor that you would like for us to address, simply SEND US your questions and we will respond to them in upcoming issues of InFocus. Below are some of the questions we have received since our last issue.

I heard there will be rezoning for Kenrose Elementary due to having full enrollment and the expectation of soon being over capacity with continued growth of the surrounding neighborhoods. The elementary schools in the vicinity that are under capacity are expected to take the burden off Kenrose with the current areas for rezoning, all the apartments on Carothers and the subdivision off of Carothers. Is this true? It has also been told that if Kenrose doesn’t get some relief that the school will lose art and music because those rooms will be needed for classrooms with the expected overcrowding. Is this true?

A number of Williamson County schools are currently over capacity, including Kenrose Elementary. Presently, there are no plans to rezone Kenrose for the 2016-17 school year. Instead, the district plans to provide additional classroom space for Kenrose through temporary portable classrooms.

Williamson County schools that are over capacity do not lose their art and music programs, but rather, these programs could possibly be serving students from different areas within the school or from carts. Student enrollment numbers for each school are available on our website.
