RHS Ensembles Head to National Festival

Published March 3, 2016

The Ravenwood High Wind Ensemble will travel to Indianapolis next week for the 25th annual 2016 Music for All National Festival.

The ensemble was selected to perform by a panel of music educators by recorded audition. This will be Ravenwood’s second appearance at the National Concert Festival, with the first appearance occurring in 2013.

“This is a special award and opportunity for our students to perform on the national stage for highly regarded adjudicators, college directors, admission offices and a great audience comprised of music educators, students and other consumers of music,” said Ravenwood High Band Director Mark Kinzer. “We are humbled and honored to be included in this exclusive group of bands. It fulfills one of the commitments made by WCS to ensure that we are recognized nationally in the arts.”

In addition to their individual performance in the festival, Ravenwood High will join with Carmel High to feature the United Sound Program, a program designed to bring music instruction and performance to special needs students.

“Featuring the United Sound and our students on the national stage makes this opportunity memorable as we embrace the philosophy of Music for All,” said Kinzer. “We are excited to be a part of the ground-breaking establishment of this program as it gains national and international attention. This will be one of the most important contributions to music education and a highlight of my teaching career.”

The Music for All National Festival will take place March 10-12, with RHS performances on Saturday, March 12.
