Veteran administrator and Allendale Elementary Principal Dr. Melonye Lowe will be the new principal of Scales Elementary next year. Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney made the announcement May 20. Lowe replaces Molly Dalgarn who has resigned from her position, effective June 30.

“Melonye has done an excellent job for us throughout the years, and she has always been willing to take on new roles and opportunities,” said Looney. “I know that she will continue to use her expertise and leadership skills to build on the tradition of excellence in place at Scales.”

Lowe has served in Williamson County Schools for the past 22 years and has been the only principal for Allendale which has been open for six years. Prior to that time, she was the principal at College Grove Elementary for three years. She taught at Pinewood and Kenrose elementary schools and has served as an assistant principal at Kenrose and Oak View. Prior to coming to Williamson County Schools, she taught in Georgia and Louisiana.

“I am honored to be chosen to become part of the Scales Elementary family and it’s long legacy of academic excellence, community service, and civic partnerships. I am looking forward to getting to know the Scales students and their families as well as working with such a fine faculty and staff,” said Lowe. “Being part of the Allendale Elementary family for the last six years has been such a rewarding experience, and I wish them the best.”

Lowe holds a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and Behavioral Sciences from Tift College of Education at Mercer University; Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Georgia State University; an Educational Specialist in Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University; and a Doctor of Education in Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University.
