Fairview Nature Fest a Huge Success for Feed Our COWs

Published September 18, 2015

The Fairview community is “moooving it forward” with the goal of putting more technology in the hands of students.

WCS staff members collected more than $1,000 in donations to the district’s Feed the COWs (Computers on Wheels) campaign at the September 12 Nature Fest in Fairview.

The idea for the fundraising effort began after two Fairview elementary schools received two fully-fed COWs from Williamson County business leaders last month.

“We wanted to pay it forward,” said WCS School Board Member Ken Peterson. “All of our schools need these benefits, and we want to assist in supporting them based on the incredible support we received.”

Peterson says a number of volunteers came together for the September 12 event and collected a grand total of $1,054.

“Our teachers and administrators took donations and handed out cookies at the Nature Fest,” said Peterson. “I saw many people wearing I Moooved it Forward stickers. I’m so appreciative of this community and grateful for our amazing parents and volunteers.”

Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney said he plans to match the donation, which means a total of $2,108 will be given to the Feed Our COWs initiative from this one event.
