BE NICE Community Summit September 15

Published September 3, 2015

Join us Tuesday, September 15 for a BE NICE Community Summit!

Hosted by Williamson County Schools, the Franklin Special School District and STARS; the BE NICE Community Summit will be held at St. Phillips Catholic Church in Franklin from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

BE NICE is all about spreading a culture of kindness in our schools, our homes and our community. Organizers hope this summit will give parents, students and community members the tools they need to encourage positive behavior and prevent bullying.

“There is no dispute that focusing on developing a culture of kindness is one of the most successful ways to address aggression and bullying in all its forms,” said STARS CEO Rodger Dinwiddie. “Williamson County has made a commitment to support students and families through a focus on kindness via the BE NICE campaign. In our time together, the focus will be on understanding the impact of bullying on students, families and the community, as well as the necessity of developing the social, emotional competence of caring about others and how important this skill is in every area of our lives.”

WCS Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney hopes Williamson County parents, students, staff and community members will make an effort to attend this important event.

“As we celebrate September as BE NICE month in Williamson County, this is a wonderful opportunity for families to learn practical advice on how to exhibit positive behavior at home and in the community,” said Looney. “We appreciate Rodger and STARS for giving their time and helping us take BE NICE to the next level.”
