The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, coupons to Sonic Drive-In and a free gift courtesy of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More in Franklin.
She has only lived here a few short months, but eighth grader Mariana Muniz is already making an impact among students and staff at Spring Station Middle School. That’s why administrators chose her as the school’s Academic All-Star for the 2015-16 school year.
“Since arriving at Spring Station, Mariana has exhibited the character traits of a Mustang with her incredible work ethic and responsibility,” said principal Paula Pulliam. “She shows respect to her teachers by going above and beyond what is asked of her. She faces challenges with a smile and respects her teachers and peers.”
Mariana moved to Williamson County from Mexico City around Christmas, and although she was nervous at first, Mariana says the transition has been a smooth one.
“I thought it would be more difficult,” said Mariana. “It has been really cool – new experiences, new friends, new everything. I like it.”
So far, Mariana’s favorite subject is science, partly because she hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.
“I want to help people,” said Mariana. “I think that’s a good ability to have.”
In the fall, Mariana will begin ninth grade at Summit High. She says she’s excited about making the move to high school and vows to keep working hard as she chases her dream of becoming a doctor.
“I want to be somebody when I grow up,” said Mariana.
